Cross country (XC) routes
XC courses and trails consist of a mix of rough forest paths and narrow forest pathways known as ‘singletrack’ (also referred to as doubletrack depending on width) and paved paths connecting other trails. Riding or racing is also only deemed cross-country if the technical complexity of the trails is easy or moderate. Otherwise its downhill.
It is unfortunate that over 50% of the paths used within Reddish Vale become extremely muddy after rain. This is partially due to the geology of the area and the lack of funding to stone up the area. Coed-y Brenin is a MTB park in the beautiful Snowdonia National Park. As part of the upgrade to the park, the paths would be stoned up to reflect those in the Snowdonia National Park.
The area to be made into a park (see woodland page) would also contain paths that connect with the other paths around Reddish Vale. As these paths will be built with a downhill gradient the proposal is to style them on the local 'bonkings' but make them double track. This then would allow the new paths to be usable by4 wheeled bikes. These are used by disabled bikers looking for their adrelalin rush!
Additional paths will be built to crete 'loops around the park. A technical climb is required to take the path from under the motorway to link back up with Ross Lav Lane.
